Preparing for the Appointment

Bring any paperwork provided by the breeder (vaccination records, microchip details). Bring high-value treats to make the experience positive.

What to Expect

The vet will visually examine the puppy, listen to their heart, check for hernias, examine teeth and ears, and likely administer their first or second vaccination. They will also discuss flea, tick, and worming protocols.

Questions to Ask Your Vet

  • What diet do you recommend for this breed?
  • When should I consider neutering/spaying?
  • What is the local risk for tick-borne diseases?
  • Do you run puppy socialisation parties at the clinic?
