As it is made from fortified plastic, there is no need to build it or blow it up. The medium-density fibreboard will prevent it from collapsing and will reduce the likelihood of tears and rips too. When it needs emptying, there is a side vent which can release the water, and it comes with a bag which can keep it safe.

It is good for dogs of all ages, with supervision.

    Features

    lunaoo Foldable Dog Pool

No need to inflate, and built-in drains to make the filling and emptying a breeze.

It just takes a few minutes to unfold and stretch out and then once it is filled with water, it is pretty sturdy. The PVC high-grade material will also help it stand, even when your dog is bounding about.

The base is made out of a thick, durable non-slip material for added safety and security when your pet is in there. It is available in three sizes, and the valve will allow the water to escape slowly so it isn’t going to damage your grass, or you can collect it and reuse it.

    Features

    Specifications

    • Dimensions: 80 x 20/120 x 30/160 x 30cm

    Intex Mini Frame Pool

A frame pool offers something a bit more solid and substantial, which could be perfect if you also have kids who will be joining in too.

It takes less than ten minutes to set it up – just build the steel frame and then add the pool. You get a repair kit in case of any small rips and tears, to extend its life. It is deep without being excessive, and if your dog is quite clumsy jumping in and out and has ruined a few pool sides in the past, the strength of the frame will help.

Because it isn’t inflatable or foldable, it takes up little space when stored.

    Features

    • Sturdy edge
    • Won’t damage grass

    Specifications

    • Dimensions: 122 x 122cm
    • Material: Mixed

    4.
    Intex 4' Duckling Snapset Pool

A generous capacity pool with a fun design and which is stable once filled.

It folds down into a small bundle when not in use, and can be unfolded in seconds. The hard plastic around the outside will stay steady with the water, and the soft plastic on the base is easy on their paws.

The trick is to fill it slowly and keep straightening the base until there is enough water in it. It might not be sturdy for any dogs who are like a bull in a china shop, but for any who love a splash to cool them down, it should stay plenty sturdy enough.

    Features

    • Fun design
    • Soft thin base

    Specifications

    • Dimensions: 121 x 29cm
    • Material: Plastic
    • Capacity: 218L

    Buying Guide

    Size

You obviously need to cater to the size of your dog when choosing a paddling pool.

Your dog should be able to easily get into the pool and have enough room when they are in there. Think about how tall they can step over the edge of the pool, and the dimensions of the pool once it is fully erected.

What will they be doing in the pool? If they will be just stepping in and having a splash, it doesn’t have to be as large as if they will be having a real party in there.

    Types

You can choose from several different styles:

    • Hard Plastic – The strongest model, for dogs who are quite rough with sharp claws or teeth. It will last for long, but depending on the size, could be difficult to store
    • Inflatable – Easy to store and use in short term but can easily puncture with claws or even stones on the ground so not ideal for use with dogs
    • Collapsible – Better than inflatable as they can still be stored but aren’t as easy to puncture. Still susceptible to tears but should last longer
    • Fabric – Often the best for storage overall, but while they are safe to use with water they could take longer to dry so could be prone to damp. It could also tear easily if not on a correct surface

    Extra Features

How will it be filled and emptied? Looking for a drainage tap is a great idea as it will make it easier to empty or replace some water. If you will be taking it on holiday or to the park, you may also want to look for handles or storage backs.

    Price

The price varies depending on how advanced the pool is. Drainage taps, tougher materials and larger pools will cost more than smaller pools which could last maybe a few uses or which are designed to be a temporary solution to heat waves.

    Other Buyers Ask...

Why should I buy a dedicated dog pool instead of a children’s pool?

Paddling pools made for dogs will be stronger overall to cope with their claws and slightly rougher style of play, especially on the base of the pool.

There are some pools out there which can be used for both. Just be sure that it is appropriate.
