Can my cat wear an inflatable dog collar?
Yes! Inflatable collars are for use with any cat or dog but are just most commonly associated with dogs.
Opt for a small size which is suitable for a small breed of dog. You may have a bit of a hunt on your hands to find one small enough, but we have included options with a range of sizes to make it much easier for you.
How long does my pet have to wear an inflatable collar for?
This all depends on what has happened. For a standard neuter or spay procedure, it will usually be around 10-14 days. But for surgery, they will usually have to wear the collar until the stitches are removed.
Your vet will be able to tell you how long it will take. The important thing is to not give up or give in. Your cat or dog may not like the collar, but it is important to stick with it. If they don’t, the process will just take longer.
Are there any alternatives to inflatable collars?
One big one – the Cone Of Shame.
This will be what your vet puts on after surgery, but they can be very uncomfortable for animals, restricting their view of the world around them and making it difficult to eat or drink from a bowl.
An inflatable collar will feel more comfortable and allow them a more normal life. It is a must if they have an injury or wound and licking it will be dangerous to the healing process.
