For the green-fingered among us, there’s no better weapon than an all-powerful weed killer. It can help your garden stay clear of those unsightly growths without killing your good plants.

However, the well-being of your pet should always take priority over the beauty of your garden. This means picking a pet-safe weed killer.

It is not recommended that you choose an everyday garden centre solution. Standard weed killers often contain chemicals that can severely poison any animal. Weed killers can also have a negative effect on wild animals, too.

But finding a pet-safe solution is almost impossible and takes even more digging than you’re used to. Even some which are labelled as ‘pet friendly’ still contain ingredients that could potentially be hazardous.

Glyphosate is not only harmful to dogs but the WHO also says it is “probably carcinogenic” to humans, too. You should also avoid Disulfoton, Sodium Arsenite, Metaldehyde, Ammonium Sulfamate, and Borax.

So to save you some time and help you find a weed killer which won’t harm your fluffy little loved ones, we’ve searched high and low for the most effective products on the market, that won’t be toxic to pets and wildlife.

Because all creatures great and small should get to enjoy your beautiful garden!
